Hints and Tips

Here is our selection of tips to help you destroy your foe and win the game.

Best First Battlefield 2 Weapon unlock:

This is a very often asked question for new players to the game, or even those that have already unlocked one or two weapons and still not entirely sure what to pick next time.

In our experience, the best weapons to unlock early on in the game are:

The medic gun: This is a great all rounder. Make sure you switch it to single burst mode, and you can pick the oponents off at a distance almost equal to that of the sniper. It kills fast - 4 shots to kill an unarmed solder and 6 for an armed one. Also, the medic is great to have around to bump health back up and gain extra points from medipack drops.

The support gun: The PKM as of patch 1.21 is rumoured to be overpowered. Again it is good at distance and even better at close range. The trick to shooting at distance shots is to use rapid clicks of the mouse button as described in the next section.

The special ops gun: Again, this is a great all round weapon. Similar characteristics to the medic weapon, but not as high damage. It does however have a quicker rate of fire. Also, by picking this weapon, it actually makes the special operations guy playable, since his starting weapon is crud.

Why not the others? For starters, the sniper gun is very tempting, however it only does the same damage as the normal sniper gun. The only upgrade is that it can shoot through chopper and jet windscreen glass - which you never ever seem to need to do anyway. The shotguns in the game are also tempting, but judge how often you find yourself in close quarters combat before you pick these, since they are rubbish at mid-range or distance shooting.

Shoot in bursts

When playing this game, you'll often find yourself wondering how come you've unloaded a full clip of ammo into the enemy and he is still standing. This will mainly be down to the spread of bullets that are coming out of your gun. The first bullet to leave the barrel is the only one that will be dead on target. The rest are affected to randomly spread around the target area. The trick is to shoot in rapid bursts to make sure that you get plenty of those well aimed first bullets to make contact.

My medic can never revive anyone

This is a problem I experienced for ages when playing the medic. I could never get to bring anyone back to life. The reason, I found to my shame, is that you have to aim the yellow target that appears with the defribulators on the targets chest. I was just randomly aiming the defibs and not taking into account the proper cross hair position.

Have fun and enjoy your stay.

Keep battling,

The b0rg.
